Nepal

Nepal are an Associate Member of the ICC, having joined as an Affiliate Member in 1988 and gained Associate status on 2 February 1996. The team is governed by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), which was founded in 1946 to promote the game in the country. Nepal were granted T20I status by the ICC in 2014 and played their first Twenty20 International on 16 March 2014 against Hong Kong at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, winning by 80 runs. Their first ODI followed on 1 August 2018 against the Netherlands at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen.

As an Associate nation, Nepal have yet to win an ICC global title, but they have made steady progress since gaining Associate status in 1996. The team have reached the ICC Men's T20 World Cup three times, qualifying in 2014, 2024 and 2026. Nepal have never qualified for a Cricket World Cup, though earning ODI status in 2018 marked a major milestone for the development of the game in the country, following the award of T20I status four years earlier.

Nepal's home international cricket is centred on the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, within the Kathmandu valley.

Following the introduction of a split-captaincy model by CAN in April 2026, Dipendra Singh Airee leads the Nepal T20I side, while Rohit Paudel retained the ODI captaincy.
