New Zealand are a Full Member of the ICC, admitted in 1926, and governed by New Zealand Cricket, the body founded as the New Zealand Cricket Council on 27 December 1894 in Christchurch. New Zealand played their first Test match from 10 January 1930 against England at Lancaster Park in Christchurch, becoming the fifth nation to play Test cricket.

The Black Caps have won two global ICC titles. They claimed the 2000 ICC KnockOut Trophy, beating India by four wickets in the final at the Gymkhana Club Ground in Nairobi on 15 October 2000. They then won the inaugural ICC World Test Championship in 2021, defeating India by eight wickets at the Rose Bowl in Southampton under Kane Williamson. New Zealand have also been runners-up at the 2015 and 2019 Cricket World Cups and at the 2021 and 2026 T20 World Cups, but have yet to win either of those events.

New Zealand's home international grounds include Eden Park in Auckland, the Basin Reserve in Wellington, Hagley Oval in Christchurch, Seddon Park in Hamilton, McLean Park in Napier, and Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.

Tom Latham captains New Zealand in Test cricket, while Mitchell Santner leads the ODI and T20I sides, having taken over the white-ball captaincy from Kane Williamson.

For international fans, a standard New Zealand afternoon start of 14:00 NZDT converts to 01:00 GMT in London, 20:00 EST (previous day) in New York, and 12:00 AEDT in Sydney. Day-night and day Test sessions begin earlier in the morning local time. Check New Zealand time for live conversions.
