Pakistan are a Full Member of the ICC, granted Test status on 28 July 1952 at a meeting of the Imperial Cricket Conference at Lord's, and governed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), inaugurated on 1 May 1949 as the Board of Control for Cricket in Pakistan. Pakistan played their first Test match on 16 October 1952 against India at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground in Delhi.

Pakistan have won the ICC Cricket World Cup once, in 1992, beating England by 22 runs in the final at the Melbourne Cricket Ground under Imran Khan. They won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2009, defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the final at Lord's, and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, beating India by 180 runs in the final at The Oval.

Pakistan's home international grounds include the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, which also houses the PCB headquarters, the National Stadium in Karachi, the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, and the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan.

Shan Masood captains Pakistan in Tests. Shaheen Afridi leads the ODI side, and Salman Ali Agha captains the T20I side, having taken over the white-ball roles during the 2025 reshuffle.
