Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka are a Full Member of the ICC, awarded Test status in 1981, becoming the eighth Test-playing nation. The team is governed by Sri Lanka Cricket, first registered with the Ministry of Sports as the Board of Control for Cricket in Sri Lanka on 30 June 1975 and renamed in 2003. Sri Lanka played their first Test on 17 February 1982 against England at the P. Sara Oval in Colombo, and their first T20I on 15 June 2006 against England at Southampton.

Sri Lanka have won three major ICC titles. They lifted the 1996 Cricket World Cup under Arjuna Ranatunga, beating Australia by 7 wickets in the final at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 17 March 1996. They shared the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy with India as co-champions after the final was washed out. They won the 2014 ICC World Twenty20, beating India by 6 wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 6 April 2014. Sri Lanka were also World Cup runners-up in 2007 and 2011, and T20 World Cup runners-up in 2009 and 2012.

Sri Lanka's home international grounds include the R. Premadasa Stadium and the SSC Cricket Ground in Colombo, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium near Kandy, the Galle International Stadium, and the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
