Group F · FIFA World Cup 2026

Dutch fans are no strangers to watching football at odd hours, but 2026 presents a particular challenge: all three Netherlands group stage matches are in the Central US timezone, meaning Texas and Kansas City kickoffs translate into very late nights in Amsterdam.

The first Group F match is June 14 against Japan in Dallas, kicking off at 15:00 Central time. That is 22:00 in Amsterdam (CEST). Still civilized. The second match on June 20 against the UEFA Path B winner in Houston kicks off at 12:00 Central, landing at 19:00 in the Netherlands. Perfect timing for an after-work match.

The third group game on June 25 against Tunisia in Kansas City kicks off at 18:00 Central, which becomes 01:00 in the early hours of June 26 in Amsterdam. That is the late-nighter Dutch fans will be planning around.

The Netherlands has a passionate football culture where major match viewing is essentially a national event. In 2022, the World Cup was in Qatar at UTC+3, which actually meant matches were on during afternoon and early evening in the Netherlands. The 2026 shift to North America changes that considerably.

Dutch fans in New York and Chicago will watch at far more comfortable times than their counterparts in Rotterdam or The Hague. For those back home, the Kansas City game requires commitment.
