Brazil is the second most successful nation in the history of the FIP World Polo Championship, the sport's premier international competition. Brazil has won the title three times, in 1995, 2001 and 2004, a tally bettered only by Argentina. That record makes Brazil the strongest challenger to Argentine dominance in the international game, even if the gap to Argentina at the very top remains wide.

The sport is governed nationally by the Confederação Brasileira de Polo (CBP), the national polo association of Brazil and a full member of the Federation of International Polo. Brazilian polo is concentrated in São Paulo, the country's polo heartland, where most of its leading clubs and state federations are based.
