The 2026 international polo season runs from late January (Dubai Polo Gold Cup) through December (Argentine Open and FIP World Championship). The American Gauntlet of Polo runs February to April, the British season is May to July, and the Argentine Triple Crown is September to December.
What is a chukker in polo?
A chukker (also spelled chukka) is a period of play in polo, lasting 7 minutes each. Standard matches are 4 to 6 chukkers, while top-level Argentine Triple Crown matches are 8 chukkers. Players change horses between chukkers.
What does the handicap level mean?
Polo handicap ranges from -2 to 10 goals. A team handicap is the sum of its four players. The Argentine Triple Crown is 40-goal (four 10-goalers per team), the highest level in the sport. The American Gauntlet and British season are typically 22-goal.
