World Rowing Championships
The 2026 World Rowing Championships will be held at the Bosbaan in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from 24 to 30 August. The Bosbaan is a purpose-built 2,200-metre rowing course in the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest), first opened in 1937 and reconstructed for the 2014 World Championships. The course hosts 23 event categories: 14 Olympic classes, lightweight events, para-rowing, and coastal rowing.
The World Championships serve as the primary qualification pathway for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Nations that finish in the top qualifying positions secure quota places for their boats. With the Olympic regatta moving to Marine Stadium in Long Beach, California, the Amsterdam Worlds carry extra weight as the last full-field championship before LA 2028 selection pressures intensify.
When do the World Championships start? Heats begin Monday 24 August at 09:00 CEST. A-finals run Thursday through Sunday, typically from 13:00 CEST. That translates to 12:00 BST in London, 07:00 EDT in New York, and 20:00 JST in Tokyo. World Rowing provides live streaming on worldrowing.com.
