Toyota Racing enters the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship under a refreshed identity. The team, formerly known as Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe, rebranded ahead of the season and simultaneously unveiled the TR010 Hybrid, an updated version featuring aerodynamic revisions and a rebrand of the GR010 Hybrid that had carried the team since 2021. The new naming convention drops the GR prefix and aligns with broader corporate changes at the Japanese manufacturer, while the car itself features substantial aerodynamic updates and a striking red, white, and black livery.

The team runs two cars, both carrying the same driver pairings as the previous season. The number 7 TR010 Hybrid is shared by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi, and Nyck de Vries. The number 8 car belongs to Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa, the same trio that won at Imola to open the 2026 season. That victory in Italy served as the debut of the TR010 Hybrid in competition.

Toyota's hybrid programme began in 2012 with the TS030, and the marque has been at the front of top-class endurance racing ever since. The GR010 generation brought multiple Le Mans victories, world championship titles, and years of fierce competition with Porsche and Ferrari. The 2026 campaign opens a new chapter. The competition has grown more intense with eight manufacturers now contesting the Hypercar class, yet Toyota arrived at the season opener and delivered exactly the kind of statement win the rebrand demanded.

Le Mans remains the primary objective. Toyota has come agonisingly close on multiple occasions, including a famous mechanical failure on the final lap in 2016, before finally securing victory in recent seasons. With the TR010 Hybrid proven in race conditions and both driver crews carrying deep experience in the car, the Japanese manufacturer is firmly in the title conversation from the opening round.
