Aaron Kyle Wise is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. Born on June 21, 1996, in Cape Town, South Africa, he moved to the United States at age three and grew up in Lake Elsinore, California. Wise competes as a US citizen and reached a career-high world ranking of 33rd in December 2022.
Wise arrived on the national golf radar during his college years at the University of Oregon, where he won the NCAA individual championship in 2016 and helped the Oregon Ducks claim the team title. He turned professional that same year and won on the PGA Tour Canada before graduating through the Web.com Tour. In May 2018, at just 21 years old, he claimed his breakthrough PGA Tour title at the AT&T Byron Nelson, closing with a final-round 65 for a 23-under total at Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas — three strokes clear of Marc Leishman. That victory earned him the 2018 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. His major championship results include a tie for 17th at the 2019 The Masters and a tie for 27th at the 2022 U.S. Open.
Wise has shown himself to be a streaky but capable ball-striker, with his best form tied to scoring rounds in the mid-60s. At 29, he retains full professional status and the track record to suggest a return to form remains possible.
