Azahara Munoz

Azahara Munoz Guijarro was born on 19 November 1987 in Malaga, Andalusia, in southern Spain. She competes on both the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour (LET) and has been one of Spain's leading women professionals for over a decade. Her world ranking peaked at 14th in 2014; as of mid-2025 she sits outside the top 200, but she remains an active presence on both tours.

Munoz built a strong amateur foundation before turning professional. She won the 2002 Spanish Amateur title at age 14, the 2004 Girls Amateur Championship, and the 2009 British Ladies Amateur, defeating ASU teammate and compatriot Carlota Ciganda in the final. At Arizona State University she earned four All-Pac-10 First Team honors and helped lead the Sun Devils to the 2009 NCAA team title. She turned professional in September 2009 and immediately showed her quality, winning the 2009 Madrid Ladies Masters on her LET debut with a final-round 64 and an eagle on the first playoff hole. She joined the LPGA Tour in 2010, made the cut in her first eleven events, and won the tour's Rookie of the Year award. Her sole LPGA victory came at the 2012 Sybase Match Play Championship, where she defeated Candie Kung 2&1. On the LET she has five titles, including back-to-back wins at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France in 2013 and 2014, and consecutive victories at the Andalucia Costa del Sol Open de Espana in 2016 and 2017.

Munoz has been a consistent presence in LPGA major championships, with a career-best finish of T4 at the 2014 Women's PGA Championship and T7 at the 2014 ANA Inspiration (now Chevron Championship). She represented Europe in the Solheim Cup in 2011, 2013, 2015, and 2019, compiling a 6-8-2 match record across 16 appearances, including a 2-2-1 contribution to Europe's 14.5-13.5 victory at Gleneagles in 2019. She has also represented Spain at the Olympic Games in 2016 (Rio), 2020 (Tokyo), and 2024 (Paris).
