Chan Kim is an American professional golfer who competes on the PGA Tour. Born on March 24, 1990 in Suwon, South Korea, Kim grew up in Hawaii before heading to Arizona State University, where he developed his game as a college golfer. He now resides in Gilbert, Arizona, and represents the United States. After a long road through secondary tours, Kim secured his PGA Tour card for the 2024 season by finishing second on the Korn Ferry Tour points list in 2023.
Kim spent the core of his professional career building a record on the Japan Golf Tour, where he won eight times between 2017 and 2022. His Japan victories included the 2019 Japan Open Golf Championship, the 2020 Golf Nippon Series JT Cup, and the 2021 Dunlop Phoenix Tournament. He was named Japan Golf Tour Rookie of the Year in 2017 and won the tour's money list in the 2020-21 season, reaching a career-high world ranking of 61 in December 2019. He has also appeared in major championships, recording a T11 at The Open Championship in 2017 and a T23 at the PGA Championship in 2021.
Kim made a striking entry to the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023, winning the Magnit Championship and then the Albertsons Boise Open in back-to-back weeks in August of that year. On the PGA Tour, Kim has shown competitive form with top-10 finishes in his debut 2024 season.
