Danielle Grace Kang is an American professional golfer born in San Francisco, California, competing on the LPGA Tour. She rose to a career-high world ranking of fourth at the end of 2019, establishing herself as one of the premier players in women's golf. Her headline achievement came at the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship, where she claimed her first major title in her 144th LPGA Tour start.
Kang's path to the professional ranks was built on an exceptional amateur record. She won the U.S. Women's Amateur in back-to-back years, 2010 and 2011, becoming the first player in 15 years to win consecutive titles. She turned professional in 2011 and earned full LPGA Tour status in 2013. Her career accelerated sharply from 2017 onward, accumulating six LPGA Tour victories including back-to-back wins at the Buick LPGA Shanghai in 2018 and 2019, and two titles in 2020 during the pandemic-shortened season. She also took home the 2020 Vare Trophy, awarded to the tour's leader in scoring average.
Kang's form entering 2022 was interrupted when she disclosed, during the U.S. Women's Open in June of that year, that she had been competing with a tumor on her spine. She stepped away for treatment before returning to competition that August. Her comeback included a dramatic runner-up finish at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, where she fell in a playoff. The subsequent seasons have seen limited competitive appearances as she has managed her long-term recovery, a situation that has shaped her standing on tour in 2025 and into 2026.
