David Puig Currius was born on December 7, 2001, in La Garriga, a small town in the Vallès Oriental comarca of Catalonia, Spain. He competes primarily on LIV Golf and the DP World Tour, with additional appearances on the Asian Tour, and entered the 2026 major season ranked 58th in the Official World Golf Ranking. At 24 years old, he is widely regarded as one of the most promising young golfers in the world game.

Puig developed his game through a distinguished amateur career before enrolling at Arizona State University in 2019. Playing for the Sun Devils, he won the 2021 Southwestern Invitational by a record nine strokes in just his fifth collegiate stroke play event and defended that title in 2022. He also represented Spain in the Junior Golf World Cup, earning silver in 2018 and bronze in 2019, and reached third place at the 2021 European Amateur Championship. He turned professional in September 2022, joining LIV Golf and shortening his college tenure, though he completed his degree online in 2023. His first professional win came at the International Series Singapore in October 2023, where he led wire-to-wire on the Asian Tour. He added a second Asian Tour title at the IRS Prima Malaysian Open in February 2024 before claiming his maiden DP World Tour victory at the BMW Australian PGA Championship in November 2025, shooting 18 under par to become the first Spaniard to win that title since Seve Ballesteros in 1981.

At the PGA Championship at Aronimink in May 2026, Puig finished tied for 18th, his best result across five career major appearances. That finish kept him at 58th in the OWGR and secured automatic qualification for the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills, meaning he will contest two of the four men's majors in 2026.
