Denny Francis McCarthy (born March 4, 1993) is an American professional golfer from Takoma Park, Maryland, competing on the PGA Tour. He has built a reputation as one of the sharpest putters on the PGA Tour. His best major result remains a tied seventh at the 2022 U.S. Open at The Country Club, the first top-10 of his major championship career. He is in the 2026 PGA Championship field at Aronimink.

McCarthy played varsity golf at Georgetown Preparatory School before attending the University of Virginia, where he earned two-time All-American honours. As a senior in 2014 he led the United States to victory at the World Amateur Team Championship, partnering Bryson DeChambeau and Beau Hossler, and posting a final-round 64. He competed in the 2015 Walker Cup before turning professional. After two seasons on what is now the Korn Ferry Tour, McCarthy secured his PGA Tour card and in September 2018 won the Web.com Tour Championship at 23-under par, defeating Lucas Glover by four strokes. He also won the Maryland Open three times as an amateur (2010, 2013, 2015). Despite numerous PGA Tour starts, a tour title remains elusive; he lost a playoff at the 2024 Valero Texas Open to Akshay Bhatia after birdieing his final seven holes to force it.

The most consistent part of McCarthy's game is his putting, which he approaches more as an art than a technical exercise, selecting an intermediate target and committing without a practice stroke. He finished tied eighth at the 2025 PGA Championship and tied 29th at the 2025 Masters at Augusta National, results that underline his capacity to make cuts and climb leaderboards in the sport's biggest events.
