Jeongeun Lee6 is a South Korean professional golfer born on May 28, 1996, in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do. She competes primarily on the LPGA Tour and has also played on the LPGA of Korea Tour (KLPGA). The number in her name is not a nickname but a formal designation: when she joined the Korean tour, five other players already shared the name Lee Jeong-eun, so the KLPGA numbered them in order of registration. She carries the "6" on every official entry, worldwide.
Lee began playing golf at age nine and turned professional in 2015. On the KLPGA Tour she was dominant through 2017 and 2018, winning six events across those two seasons and leading the money list both years. She qualified for the LPGA Tour through the LPGA Q-Series in 2018 and made an immediate impact. In her 2019 U.S. Women's Open debut at the Country Club of Charleston, she posted a 6-under-par total of 278 to win by two strokes, claiming one of women's golf's most prestigious titles as a rookie. She was named the 2019 LPGA Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year. Two years later she shot a stunning 61 in the second round of the 2021 Evian Championship, tying the major championship scoring record, and held a five-shot lead entering the final round before losing in a playoff to Minjee Lee.
After a difficult stretch away from the top of the rankings, Lee showed renewed form in 2026. In March she won the IOA Golf Classic on the Epson Tour, her first professional victory since the 2019 U.S. Women's Open, demonstrating the competitive drive that defined her early career.
