John Henry Keefer IV was born on January 11, 2001, in Baltimore, Maryland, and grew up to become one of the most decorated players to graduate from the Korn Ferry Tour in recent years. Now residing in San Antonio, Texas, he holds full PGA Tour status for the 2026 season after an exceptional developmental career. His peak Official World Golf Ranking of 45th was reached in January 2026. He competes on the PGA Tour and has made his first appearances at The Masters and the PGA Championship.

Keefer played college golf at Baylor University from 2019 to 2024, where he majored in accounting and set the program's all-time career scoring record with a 71.45 average, surpassing the mark previously held by PGA Tour veteran Jimmy Walker (71.55). He was an All-Big 12 selection in 2022 and 2024 and became the first men's golfer in Big 12 history to win back-to-back Scholar Athlete of the Year awards. After turning professional in 2024, he immediately made his mark by finishing first on the inaugural PGA Tour Americas points list, posting a record scoring average of 66.00 for that circuit. That result earned him promotion to the 2025 Korn Ferry Tour, where he won twice: the Veritex Bank Championship in April at 30-under 254, and the NV5 Invitational in July at 26-under 258, breaking the tournament scoring record. He led the Korn Ferry Tour's season-long points list with a 67.95 scoring average, breaking the record set by Luke Guthrie in 2012. He was named both 2025 Korn Ferry Tour Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, the first player to receive both honors in the same season since Scottie Scheffler in 2019.

His 2026 major record reflects rookie experience at golf's highest level -- he missed the cut at Augusta National at the Masters and finished 79th at Aronimink at the PGA Championship. At 25 years old, he is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players on tour.
