Keita Nakajima (中島啓太) was born on June 24, 2000, in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. He competes on both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour, having earned dual membership for 2026 after finishing 14th in the 2025 DP World Tour's Race to Dubai. A product of Nippon Sport Science University, he turned professional in the fall of 2022 after one of the most decorated amateur careers in modern golf history.
Before turning pro, Nakajima spent a record 87 weeks ranked World No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and became the first two-time recipient of the men's Mark H. McCormack Medal, awarded to the top male amateur in the world, winning it in both 2021 and 2022. His amateur wins included the 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (in a playoff), the 2021 Japan Amateur Championship, and the 2018 Australian Amateur. He also took both individual and team gold at the 2018 Asian Games. In 2021, still an amateur, he claimed the Panasonic Open on the Japan Golf Tour. After turning professional, he went on to win three more times on the Japan Golf Tour in 2023, topping the tour's money list that season. His breakthrough on the international stage came in March 2024 at the Hero Indian Open, which he won wire-to-wire by four shots for his first DP World Tour title.
Nakajima is regarded as a precise ball-striker who emphasises control over power. His equipment reflects this priority: he uses blade-style irons for his short irons to maximise control on approach shots, and values spin consistency from his wedges above all else. In 2025 he recorded three runner-up finishes on the DP World Tour, including at the Porsche Singapore Classic and in his title defence at the Hero Indian Open, results that secured him the PGA Tour card he now holds. He has competed in all four men's majors, with starts at The Masters, The Open Championship, the U.S. Open, and the PGA Championship across 2022 to 2025.
