Lucas Glover is an American professional golfer from Greenville, South Carolina, who competes on the PGA Tour. Born on November 12, 1979, he was introduced to golf by his grandfather at age three and went on to become a three-time All-American at Wade Hampton High School before attending Clemson University, where he earned first-team All-American honours in 2000 and 2001. He turned professional in 2001 and has since built a career spanning more than two decades on Tour.
Glover claimed his first PGA Tour title at the 2005 FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World, holing a 35-yard bunker shot on the 18th hole to avoid a playoff. His defining moment came at the U.S. Open in 2009, where he posted a four-under-par 276 at Bethpage Black to defeat Phil Mickelson, Ricky Barnes, and David Duval by two strokes. He added the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship and the 2021 John Deere Classic before a remarkable late-career resurgence in 2023, when he won back-to-back FedEx Cup Playoff events at the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The consecutive victories made him one of only three players in their forties to win back-to-back weeks on the PGA Tour in the previous 25 years.
Glover is widely regarded as a ball-striker built around precise iron play. He compresses the ball consistently through impact, and at his best he ranks near the top of the Tour in greens in regulation and proximity to the hole from approach distances. Driving accuracy has also been a strength throughout his career. His six career Tour victories and major pedigree keep him a relevant presence in any major-championship field.
