Michael Thorbjornsen is an American professional golfer born on September 16, 2001, in Cleveland, Ohio, who grew up in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He plays on the PGA Tour. Thorbjornsen turned professional in June 2024 after completing his collegiate career at Stanford University, the program that also produced Tiger Woods and Rose Zhang.

His amateur record was exceptional. Thorbjornsen won the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur at Baltusrol Golf Club and made the cut at the U.S. Open as the reigning Junior Amateur champion when he finished 79th at Pebble Beach in 2019. He added the Western Amateur and Massachusetts Amateur in 2021 and represented the United States at the 2022 Eisenhower Trophy and Arnold Palmer Cup. His amateur peak came at the 2022 Travelers Championship, where he finished fourth while still an amateur. He ended his Stanford career atop the 2024 PGA Tour University rankings, which earned him a Tour card without needing to go through qualifying.

On Tour, Thorbjornsen has built a record of consistent contention without yet breaking through for a win. He was among the runners-up at the 2024 John Deere Classic and again at the 2025 Corales Puntacana Championship, and recorded multiple top-10 finishes in 2025. His ball-striking and approach play rank well above Tour average, while putting has been a more inconsistent part of his game. He competed in the 2026 PGA Championship at Aronimink, his second appearance in that major, and missed the cut.

At 24, Thorbjornsen is one of the youngest regular starters on the PGA Tour and one of the clearest products of the Tour University pipeline. His power and ball-striking foundation give him a profile that suits major championship venues as his game continues to develop.
