Sofia Garcia

Sofia Linette Garcia Peralta (born 22 June 1998, Asuncion, Paraguay) is a professional golfer competing on the LPGA Tour. She is one of a tiny handful of Paraguayan women to have reached the top tier of women's professional golf, and she remains the most prominent golfer her country has ever produced. Garcia became the first Paraguayan winner of the South American Amateur Golf Championship, claiming that title in back-to-back years (2015 and 2016), and she went on to earn her LPGA Tour card through Q-School for the 2023 season.

Garcia's path to the professional game ran through Texas Tech University, where she played from 2016 to 2021. She posted a school-record career stroke average of 72.2, won four collegiate tournaments, and was twice invited to the Augusta National Women's Amateur (2020 and 2021). Her amateur record also includes the 2013 South American Junior Championship, won by ten strokes, and the 2019 Dutch International Junior Open. At the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima she claimed a silver medal in the mixed team event. She turned professional in 2021 and spent the 2022 season on the Epson Tour, recording five top-10 finishes and qualifying for the U.S. Women's Open at Pine Needles before earning her LPGA card.

The defining result of Garcia's career to date came at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile, where she won the women's individual gold medal. On the LPGA Tour she has continued to build experience, with her best result in a women's major being a T-51 at the 2024 U.S. Women's Open. For a player from a country with almost no professional golf infrastructure, reaching and competing on the LPGA Tour represents a significant achievement in itself.
