Troy Merritt is an American professional golfer born on October 25, 1985, in Osage, Iowa, who now resides in Boise, Idaho. He has competed on the PGA Tour for over a decade and is currently playing on the Korn Ferry Tour. His peak Official World Golf Ranking was 82nd, reached in March 2016. He has two PGA Tour titles to his name, making him a credentialed veteran of the sport's top circuit.

Merritt built his game at Boise State University, where he transferred after two years at Winona State. At Boise State he earned first team All-WAC honors. He turned professional that same year and earned his PGA Tour card in December 2009 by leading the Qualifying Tournament after every round. His breakthrough win came at the 2015 Quicken Loans National, where he closed with a 67 to win by three strokes over Rickie Fowler. A third-round 61 during that week set the course record at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. He claimed his second title at the 2018 Barbasol Championship, shooting a first-round 62 and holding on to win by one stroke at 23 under par.

Merritt describes his approach as deliberately simple: smooth takeaway, minimal hand action through the ball, and an emphasis on avoiding overthinking. He also underwent emergency surgery in 2018, eleven days after his Barbasol win, to remove a blood clot that extended from his chest into his bicep -- a serious health event that interrupted what had been the peak stretch of his career.
