Zecheng Dou, who competes under the nickname Marty in the United States, was born on January 22, 1997, in Henan Province, China. He plays primarily on the PGA Tour and has been a trailblazer for Chinese golf at the highest level of the professional game.
Dou turned professional in 2014 after an amateur career that included representing China at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics, the Asian Games, and the Eisenhower Trophy. He dominated the PGA Tour China Series in 2016 with four victories and the Order of Merit. Moving to what is now the Korn Ferry Tour in 2017, he won the Digital Ally Open in July of that year, becoming the first Chinese player to win on that circuit, and followed it up by earning his PGA Tour card. He added further Korn Ferry Tour wins at the 2019 Bahamas Great Exuma Classic and the 2022 Ascendant, the last of which secured his return to the PGA Tour. He represented China at the 2024 Paris Olympics, competing in the men's golf event at Le Golf National.
On the PGA Tour, Dou has shown steady ball-striking without yet converting that form into a Tour victory. He brings a controlled approach from the tee and has demonstrated range with his short game, though consistency across four rounds remains the next step in his development.
