Cameron Young is an American golfer from Scarborough, New York, one of the longest hitters on the PGA Tour, with multiple top-10 finishes in major championships. His father, David Young, is the head professional at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, where Cameron grew up around the game before attending Wake Forest University.
Young announced himself as a major championship contender at the 2022 Open Championship at St Andrews, where he shot a third-round 64 and finished tied for second behind Cameron Smith. That performance was not a fluke. His driving distance consistently places him among the top players on tour, and when the driver is working, he turns long par 4s into short-iron approaches that create birdie opportunities other players cannot manufacture. He won the 2022 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award after a season that included multiple runner-up finishes, establishing himself as one of the most talented young players in the game.
Young's game is built around aggression. He swings hard, carries the ball long, and plays a high ball flight that allows him to attack pins from positions that conservative players never reach. The risk is that his approach play can be inconsistent when the driver sprays, and his short game has occasionally been tested under major championship pressure. But when he puts four rounds together, the combination of length and scoring ability makes him a genuine threat. His first PGA Tour victory confirmed what the near-misses had suggested: the talent was always there, and the closing ability was developing.
In 2026, Young's power gives him an advantage at Augusta National, where the par 5s reward players who can reach the green in two. Aronimink and Shinnecock Hills will test his accuracy off the tee, and Royal Birkdale will demand the links creativity that he showed at St Andrews. He will compete at all four: The Masters, PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship. Fans can follow tee times in United States time.
