Ludvig Noa Åberg was born on 31 October 1999 in Eslöv, a small town in southern Sweden. The 26-year-old competes primarily on the PGA Tour, where he held a career-peak world ranking of fourth in June 2024 and sits at fourth as of May 2026. His combination of elite ball-striking, powerful driving, and composure under pressure has made him one of the most prominent young players in the game.
Åberg grew up playing football before switching his focus entirely to golf at age 13. He accepted an athletic scholarship to Texas Tech University in 2019 and rose to number one in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, spending 29 weeks at the top before turning professional in June 2023. His ascent as a professional was immediate: he won the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour, and by November of the same year he had claimed the RSM Classic on the PGA Tour, shooting back-to-back 61s on the weekend to tie Justin Thomas's 72-hole scoring record of 253. He added a second PGA Tour title at the 2025 Genesis Invitational. On the team stage, he was a wildcard pick for Europe at the 2025 Ryder Cup, where he featured in one of the most celebrated partnerships of the event.
In major championships Åberg has shown consistent contention. He finished solo second to Scottie Scheffler on his Masters debut in 2024, then went on to record a tied-12th at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2. In 2025 he posted a tied-fifth at The Masters and a tied-23rd at The Open Championship at Royal Portrush. The 2026 season has continued that pattern: a tied-21st at Augusta National in April was followed by a tied-fourth at Aronimink in the PGA Championship, where he closed with a one-under 69 to finish alongside Justin Thomas and Matti Schmid.
His strokes-gained tee-to-green numbers rank among the best on Tour, and analysts consistently identify his iron play and driving accuracy as the foundation of his game. With Shinnecock Hills still to come for the U.S. Open and Royal Birkdale hosting The Open Championship, Åberg remains one of the most credible major contenders in the second half of 2026.
