Rene Rast

René Rast is a German racing driver who shares the #20 BMW M Hybrid V8 with Robin Frijns and Sheldon van der Linde in the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship. He is a three-time DTM champion, having won the title in 2017, 2019, and 2020 with Audi, placing him second in the all-time DTM victories standings. After years of running parallel programmes in both the DTM and endurance racing, he stepped back from the DTM after 2025 to focus fully on the WEC.

Rast's endurance career runs alongside his single-seater and touring car work. His switch to BMW's Hypercar project brought a new challenge, and he has been central to the team's development push in 2025 and 2026.

The decision to leave the DTM behind paid off with BMW's breakthrough WEC win at Spa in May 2026, where the #20 crew of Rast, Frijns, and van der Linde delivered the marque's first overall victory in the series' top class. Rast arrives at Le Mans 2026 with that momentum and with a deep well of experience across different car types and race formats.
